I'm a HUGE fan of Chad Waterbury ever since he started contributing to Testosterone.net (T-Nation.com). He has helped revolutionize a return to full-body (total-body) workouts and high-frequency training for the masses.I've used total-body circuit-based training with myself and my coaching clients for nearly 15 years with phenomenal success. For the 99% of people that are not professional bodybuilders, a full-body and circuit-based approach to training will provide almost everything you need to build strength and muscle, lose fat, improve your conditioning, and even compete in a variety of recreational activities and do it well (I placed in the top 3 of my age group in various Obstacle course races from 2011 - 2016 despite NEVER running in my training or doing any OCR specific training).Chad's new book is better than his previous books as everything he's learned--along with the science behind it--has finally caught up to what those of us have known to be true for the last decade already knew: total-body workouts in a circuit training format and high-frequency training works!I was impressed with Chad's chapter covering assessments as it used many of the exact same exercises and tests that I've used with myself and my clients for the last decade. He also goes into the importance of sleep, nutrition, recovery, fat loss, and fat loss training methods. I was also pleased to see that he addressed those of us in the over 40 crowd (I'm creeping in on 50!) as I've had to make changes to my training and the training of my clients as they've aged (and I've trained clients into their 70's).And, yes, of course, you will find plenty of training information from exercise photos and descriptions to various training plans for all of your goals. Yes, you only need to perform three total-body sessions each week (plus some short "cardio" sessions on your off days). Stubborn body parts? No worries. With high-frequency training, you can finally bring up those small arms, calves, and other stubborn body parts with only one joint-friendly set of 30+ reps to failure performed 5-6 days/week.The book is beautifully designed with a clean design, easy-to-read copy, beautiful photos, and great formatting. It's even edited well, and I haven't caught any errors (unlike many other books).Look, if you want to get in the best shape of your life no matter your age, pick up Chad Waterbury's new book: Elite Physique: The New Science of Building a Better BodyYou won't be disappointed if you use the information (take ACTION) presented in the book and put in the work necessary to get results! As someone that has owned a fitness business and been in the industry for 15+ years and has "worked out" ever since my senior year in high school (when I was skinny, weak, and small), I own hundreds of books on training and nutrition, I've attended countless training seminars, I've been certified by StrongFirst, RKC, Underground Strength Coach (and others), and I've met many of my favorite fitness personalities in person (Ian King, John Berardi, Alwyn Cosgrove, Dave Tate, Charles Staley, Dan John, Pavel Tsatsouline, Eric Cressey, Zach Even-Esh, and many more!).What am I trying to say? Chad Waterbury knows his stuff and this book is by far his best to date and one of the top books I now own. It may have taken at least a decade to become popular, but full-body (total-body) training, circuits, and high-frequency training is THE best way for the majority of people to make amazing progress without spending hours in the gym or performing stupid "Bro split" workouts (if you are performing "bodybuilding" workouts, just stop!).
