This is an amazing story about a young Vietnamese family living in Vietnam and their journey to America. It is captivating. The Vu family stuck together through a terrible war, losing their friends and family and barely escaping to America. Their story continues as they struggle to stay together against all odds in America, taking any job they can just to send their children to school. I literally read this book in just 2 days. I couldn't put it down!If you are interested in near death experiences, the book takes you on another journey with Anna (one of 5 children) as she discovers and learns to hone in her gift of talking to the departed. As a medical doctor, Anna has the privilege of bonding with many people during their last dying days. As a result of that, she becomes a vessel for the departed. I was fascinated with each and every patient's story and how she accepted her role even though it was sometimes a burden. Anna is a true healer. She even heals after death. What better doctor could you want?I will be reading this book over and over again and have already ordered it for family and friends. This book helps unveil the human condition and how some people not only overcome their difficulties, but spend the rest of their lives unselfishly helping others.
