My DC35 motor failed and after some research telling me the DC44 main body would work in its place I decided to give it a try. It does work but requires some minor modifications either on the motor main body or the canister. You just have to cut some plastic tabs off one of the other (I used a hack saw) and it works brilliantly. While we love our Dyson vacuum their weak point I feel is the trigger. Instead of junking the whole unit after I found out the problem I took a chance on this replacement unit. So far it's fixed the problem and the little beast works fine again. I only wish I could have bought just the red plastic trigger for it.The website description should explain this body is for Type A batteries only. If you are replacing from a unit that used Type B batteries, this motor body will not be compatible with your current battery. Now that I look at the picture I can see the Type A battery button in the image but it would have been helpful to list the restriction in the text description. We have several Dyson DC44s and after time, the battery and trigger just work intermittently. We've extended the life of the original assembly with tie wraps as found on YouTube, but eventually, no more resuscitation would work. Purchasing the Main body was so much cheaper than buying a new Dyson and it's been working flawlessly for the past month.Easy to assemble, fits perfectly, I love it.Our Dyson fell on the tile floor. The handle around the trigger was all cracked and the wires inside were exposed. Was about to buy a whole new machine when I realized Amazon could supply a new one at a reasonable price. The box it came in said Dyson on it. Perfect replacement, our vacuum like new again! Our 7-year old Dyson DC 44 motor was beginning to make strange noises, so we found this new Dyson main body part on Amazon for a very reasonable price. It fits our old hurricane and collection bin parts perfectly. This looks to be in good condition, but the battery I have for my old dc44 does not fit, I now have to order a batteryI'm a big dyson fan and bought my dc44 animal cordless vac approx. 6 years ago and have never had a problem and it has been superb. Last year the foot started to have a few wear and tear issues so I replaced this at a cost of £60 odd pounds. No problem with that and my animal vac continued to work really well. A couple of months ago the trigger went on the body part and basicaaly the machine just would not run for more than a couple of seconds. I checked with dyson spares only to find that they no longer supplied any spares for the DC44 animal cordless vac. So I turned to Amazon and did do a lot of research on identifying the correct replacement body part as well as reading through Q & As. £61.99 is an awful lot of money to shell out, not to mention the £60 I had already paid out for the foot previously. So, after a lot of consideration and deliberation, not least that the dyson dc44 animal had originally cost close to £300, I went ahead and ordered the body part from this Seller. This being on the strength of the description that they had written plus the Q & A's. The lack of clear photos did make it extremely difficult to double double check that this DC44 body part was the correct one for my dyson vac. From the photos provided it was as close to what I was searching for. After a lengthy wait for this part to arrive, even though the money was instantly taken, I unpacked what did look like an original dyson spare part. Who knows on that front? It then became clear that you have to completely unscrew the old part from the vac in order to fit it. All looked well so far. Unfortunately not!! The way the battery has to be fitted to the body part did not match up. It was a real conundrum so I contacted the Seller via Amazon messages. Currently I have countless messages from this Seller who was not helpful in the slightest, far from it. I have never read such rubbish as I was receiving and not once was a solution offered. As I was getting absolutely nowhere after 2 weeks of ordering this spare part, not having a vac that could be used, the only solution I could come up with was to return this part back to the Seller. Even this proved difficult and it took a further 2 weeks before I received my refund after phoning Amazon CS several times. Given that it was the Seller's lack of description that caused the problem they really did have real cheek expecting me to pay the return postage. I was really fair about this and did make the effort to get the cheapest rate for them of £5.10 instead of over £12. This was not appreciated and yet again I had to contact Amazon CS to fight to get this refunded. The moral to this epic stressful and trying story is don't bother to try and save money on spares. Whilst I was fighting this Seller for my money back I went ahead and bought a new Dyson cordless vac from Amazon which arrived quickly and long before I received my refund from the Seller. Here's the link to buy a new affordable dyson cordless vac which is absolutely first class and far better than my old Dyson DC44 animal. It's £198 brand new including the tools and hanging up part on Prime. Taking in to account I had already shelled out over £120 for spare parts it's a no brainer - this was on Primehttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0716Y5JF2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I have been buying regularly from Amazon for almost 15 years now and this has to be the worst buying experience ever. Mental note to myself - never buy from Marketplace Sellers. Always use Prime. No Dislikes did just what I purchased it for. Thank youExcellent product.
