I took a nasty fall riding my mountain bike at Spider Mountain in Burnet, TX about three weeks ago that I'm still recovering from. One of those nasty falls that left me wondering why I even got into mtb riding in the first place, especially since I'm just a few years shy of reaching my 50th birthday. Three weeks later my shoulders, ribs, chins, ankles, hands, and just about everything still hurts. I wore a full face helmet that day and I still ended up with a mild concussion and even scraped my face up a bit. Yup, it was one of those falls. The only two areas that were spared of pain, bruising, or bleeding were my elbows and knees, and I attribute that to the Leatt knee and elbow pads I was wearing at the time. So instead of giving up on mtb riding, I decided to get some body armor. Knowing how well the other Leatt products worked on protecting me, I splurged on the Leatt 6.5 body protector. This armor feels and looks great! Looks to be of great quality and the fit is perfect. I'm 5'8" tall, weigh in at 220 lbs, wear size 34" jeans, and have a 48" chest. If you have a big chest like I do, go for the XL. When package arrived, it felt a little on the heavy side, but once I donned the armor, the weight was negligible. I took a quick spin around the block with this armor on, and it remained comfortable. I'll need to get a new jersey or something that's designed to fit while wearing body armor as all the clothes I have now fit too tight with this on. I'll come back and update my review on this product after I've worn it out on the trails a few times or after I take another spill. Whichever comes first ;-)
